Naturbeads recently made a significant contribution to the field of cellular agriculture by presenting at the 10th International Scientific Conference on Cultured Meat (ISCCM10), held in November 2024 in Maastricht. Our team, in collaboration with researchers from Spain’s AINIA institute, showcased a poster titled “Comparison of Naturbeads and Commercial Microcarriers Using Primary and Immortalized Myoblasts.” This biennial gathering—organized by Maastricht University at the Crowne Plaza and MECC—brought together scientists, startups, investors, and regulatory experts to explore advancements in lab-grown meat, including everything from scalable bioreactor design to plant-based scaffolding and edible microcarriers. Naturbeads’ presentation aligns with the conference’s thrust toward using sustainable, animal-free materials—like our cellulose microspheres—for efficient muscle cell culture.

We’re pleased to report our poster generated positive interest, particularly regarding how Naturbeads’ microcarriers perform compared to established commercial options in supporting muscle cell proliferation and differentiation. Working with AINIA’s team underscores our commitment to rigorous, science-backed development for the cultured meat industry. As a forward-looking company, Naturbeads remains dedicated to partnering with research institutes and industry leaders to advance the transition toward more sustainable protein production.

We were thrilled to share our findings at ISCCM and to engage with the global community driving the next wave of innovation. Seeing how our cellulose-based microcarriers support muscle cell growth reinforces our mission in cultured meat development. We look forward to building on these insights and forging new collaborations to bring scalable, sustainable protein solutions to the world.
