Naturbeads has successfully closed a £7.8 million Series A funding round to accelerate the scale-up of its biodegradable cellulose microsphere technology, a sustainable alternative to microplastics in everyday products. The round was led by Eos Advisory, with participation from existing investor Progress Tech Transfer and new international backers including CDP Venture Capital, PI-NB, and Paragon Capital Management. The investment will support the construction of Naturbeads’ first production facility in Puglia, Italy, and significantly boost manufacturing capacity to meet rising global demand for sustainable ingredients across cosmetics, home care, and industrial sectors.
The funding comes at a pivotal time, as EU regulations are set to phase out microplastics in rinse-off personal care products by 2027, with broader bans to follow. Naturbeads continues to stand apart by focusing specifically on replacing microplastics embedded in daily-use products, rather than packaging. The company is actively collaborating with global manufacturers to integrate its eco-friendly ingredients and anticipates announcing its first commercial milestones in 2025, marking a key step toward a cleaner, microplastic-free future.
